This paper will address the lingering legacy of Soviet antisemitism that still casts a shadow over memorialization policies in Ukraine. In its later decades, the USSR openly promoted anti-Jewish sentiment and exploited Soviet Ukraine in particular as one of its major producers of antisemitic publications. In reality, all kinds of public narratives in the Soviet state were invented, approved, and controlled by the powers that be in Moscow.
