Abstract

Liberation of Ukraine from Soviet ideological and epistemic tenets is analyzed in light of evolution of its criminal justice system. Today, the main focus is on securing emancipated democratic values in the face of the Russian war of aggression. The author outlines contemporary challenges to Ukrainian criminal justice, which include securing the balance between human rights and state security, exercising justice over temporary occupied territories, providing fair treatment to the prisoners of war, and introducing feasible solutions for post-war justice.
