In my presentation, I will introduce a case study related to the legend of a walled-up woman in the Bulgarian town of Harmanli. The site and the legend, which inspired one of the most famous Bulgarian poetic works by Pencho Slaveykov about the White-legged, currently constitute a space for numerous memory practices and policies, while simultaneously undergoing increasingly profound material erosion.
