This paper aims to highlight the challenges, strengths, pressures, prospects, and changing conditions for their target audience that children's book publishers in Ukraine face during the Russian-Ukrainian war. Based on interviews with a number of Ukrainian children's book publishers, this paper will examine the circumstances of publishing children's books under wartime conditions and the changes that publishing has undergone during Russia's military actions in Ukraine both in 2014 and in 2022. The presentation will touch upon both readers' preferences and choices in reading books that address 'non-childish' topics such as war experiences, and publishers' motivations and goals in creating children's books about war.
