In this paper, Tarkovsky’s Solaris and The Sacrifice will be situated within cinematic philosophy, its main approaches and its main authors. An existential threat of modern technologies – nuclear in The Sacrifice, AI in Solaris – is discussed; computational methods are applied as an exercise in cinemetrics, while analyzing these films.
