Abstract

This paper focuses on Soviet aesthetics and the socio-cultural Soviet experience in the North Caucasus. Using the examples of theatrical performances, museum expositions in highland Dagestan, and documentary films, the paper explores how the image of the Soviet past is created. In conclusion, one could see that the past is represented in categories such as cultural politics, public history, and visual anthropology.
