Sat, November 23, 4:00 to 5:45pm EST (4:00 to 5:45pm EST), Boston Marriott Copley Place, Floor: 3rd Floor, Northeastern

Abstract

16th February 1918 the establishment of a national state created a new political and cultural situation for Lithuanians. For at least some Jews, life in the new state meant a revision of identity and a new orientation towards Lithuanian culture. The report raises the question of how the process of the Lithuanization of Jews took place, how the Jews themselves became involved in it and how they perceived the changes taking place in their community.
