This paper examines the influence of family connections and home spaces on the maturation of a young woman during the Perestroika and in the 1990s. It discusses how in substantially different contexts shown in Pichul's and Balagov's films, oppression becomes one of the main circumstances of shaping the identity of a young woman and how resistance becomes the main paradigm of her life.
