In 1969-74 Aleksandra Snezhko-Blotskaia directed five animated films about Greek mythology. They tell stories of Hercules, Theseus, Perseus, Jason and the Argonauts, and Prometheus. These were one of the first animated films on mythical topics made in the USSR, and the first such films produced in the studio in Moscow. In my presentation I would like to describe the history of the creation of the films basing on archival documents and to analyse attitudes to Greek mythology and classical culture in the USSR of the 1970s.
