‘Coming Out in Russia’: Recollections of Transgender Identity in Society

Abstract

In 2023, Center-T and EQUAL PostOst released a collection of fifty-five entries and reflections of self-identified transgender people in Russia experiencing discrimination and violence entitled ‘Coming Out in Russia’. Through an analysis of the writings, I establish how these individuals express their identities in short recollections and then connect this to their perception of the relationship between their transgender identity and society.
