This paper analyzes the prominent frames and counter-frames concerning the interpretations of gender and equality in contemporary Hungarian political discourse. Relying on vastly unequal scopes of outreach to garner support, the Hungarian government, various anti-gender actors, and the gender equality community have employed competing frames of liberation and oppression, with one side calling for nationalist awakening, and the other for raising awareness to the diversity of individual experiences and conditions.
