Abstract

This paper offers a close reading of two maps from the first atlas of Siberia made by S. U. Remezov. It looks at Remezov’s maps of Lake Teletskoe in the Altai region and of the map of the upper Irtysh, interrogating what these maps tell us about imperial dynamics in the late seventeenth century.
