Fri, November 22, 8:00 to 9:45am EST (8:00 to 9:45am EST), Boston Marriott Copley Place, Floor: 3rd Floor, Regis

Abstract

This project seeks to examine Soviet influence in Cuba during the Comintern era and uncover how Soviet activity shaped the pre-revolutionary landscape of the island. This research will focus on how the Soviets helped develop the "Popular Socialist Party," which would eventually merge into Communist Party of Cuba a few years after Fidel Castro's victory. Additionally, this project will also investigate how labor unions in Cuba were affected by the Soviets' involvement in developing left-wing movements in Cuba.
