New Approaches to Gulag History, Literature, and Memory

Brief Description

This roundtable will discuss the state of the field in Gulag studies, comparing approaches from social history, cultural history, literary studies and memory politics. It will compare a number of new and forthcoming Gulag history books by the roundtable participants, and, more broadly, will consider the possibilities and constraints for Gulag research in the present circumstances.
