Session Submission Type: Roundtable
This roundtable explores various approaches that help L2 Russian learners develop their L2 writing proficiency. The approaches include the use of emerging generative AI tools, peer collaborations, and self-reflexive activities. Marina Tsylina will compare Russian learners’ perceptions of the quality of their L2 writing with the perceptions that teachers’ have of L2 learners’ writing. M. Tsylina will discuss the impact that learner self-perception has on their motivation to learn to write in an L2. Marina Grineva will talk about collaborative digital writing in an online asynchronous course. Snezhana Zheltoukhova will present the results and feedback from her students’ writing projects that incorporate AI chatbots. Natalia Sletova will reflect on learners’ perceptions of writing activities that are based on work with long authentic texts. Irina Avkhimovich will discuss creative writing and peer reviews as effective assignments for teaching literature in Russian.
