Fri, November 22, 8:00 to 9:45am EST (8:00 to 9:45am EST), Boston Marriott Copley Place, Floor: 4th Floor, Yarmouth

Session Submission Type: Panel

Brief Description

The panel approaches the theme of policing in Central and Eastern Europe across a variety of periods and contexts. Panelists will explore: how policing practices changed—or persisted—during and after major conflicts and geopolitical transformations and within different ideological settings (imperial, fascist, socialist); what defined relationships between police forces and resident populations; and how states sought to reform, control, and deploy their police and to what ends.
