The papers in this session offer a broad-based consideration of how imperial and postimperial spaces in Russia and the former Soviet Union have been constructed geographically and historically. The authors aim to situate current geographic work within a discussion of the state of the field of Eurasian studies, acknowledging the 2023 and 2024 conference themes of decolonization and liberation.
