Honoring Jan Plamper: Historian, Intellectual, Friend

Brief Description

The purpose of this roundtable is to commemorate the life of historian and public intellectual Jan Plamper, and to celebrate his body of work, including three monograph-length publications. Jan Plamper died in November 2023. The roundtable brings together several of his collaborators and friends from different stages and fields of his life and career, including his work for the human rights organization Memorial, his advocacy on behalf of refugees, his publications on Stalinism, the history of emotions, and the relevance of Foucault to the Russianist field.
