Brief Description

The panel provides comprehensive analysis of media, criminal justice, information security and education as critical institutions of the Ukrainian state, their role in achieving ideological and epistemic liberation from the Soviet legacy and withstanding the threats of the Russian aggression. The panelists will uncover the significance of peace and solutions journalism in media discourse for building resilience and ultimate peacemaking within Ukrainian society. Special attention will be paid to information and cognitive security of Ukraine in countering hybrid war tactics of the Russian Federation. Activism of the Ukrainian civil society will be analyzed as the key factor in building resilience and securing future institutional liberation of Ukraine. The speakers will discuss challenges faced by the Ukrainian criminal justice and education systems. Emphasis will be placed on implementing the best international practices in Ukrainian judiciary and law enforcement, preserving the necessary balance between human rights and state security during the wartime, and introducing feasible solutions for post-war justice. Finally, the panelists will discuss problems of preserving Ukrainian intellectual and scientific potential in conditions of a decentralized Ukrainian education ecosystem across borders and cultures, and prospects of deconstructing the Soviet legacy of rigid institutions. As a keynote, the speakers will reveal prospects for achieving synergy between civil society and public policies in overcoming covert and open threats posed to the Ukrainian state by the Russian war of aggression.
