Our panel proposes to explore Ukraine’s queerness through its literary, artistic, social, and legislative features. We will discuss how Ukraine’s unique past and present form grounds for queer life, its civic and artistic expression, as well as how queer individuals, both famous artists and “everyday” people, have escaped the sociolegal oppression of colonial and local authorities.
