Session Submission Type: Panel
This panel explores how different forms of socialisation, such as family and education, affect political behaviour and attitudes in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with a special focus on questions of gender, generations, and migration. The panel studies different types of Russians: those who have remained in the country since February 2022, more recent migrants, and the long-standing Russian community in Germany. National identity, support for Russia’s regime, approval of military or humanitarian support for Ukraine, and feelings of responsibility and solidarity are among the outcomes of interest that this panel focuses on. All papers draw on original survey data as part of various data collection efforts taking place in Eastern and Central Europe.
