Session Submission Type: Panel
Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Ukraine has been thrust into a state of war, necessitating a reevaluation and redirection of its foreign policy priorities. This panel discussion seeks to explore the transformative shifts in Ukraine's foreign policy landscape, particularly examining its historical development and current challenges as well as exploring various prospects for post-war diplomatic orientations in Ukraine’s foreign policymaking. The three papers weave together distinct analytical insights on the role of NATO-Ukraine cooperation and Russian responses, the invasion of 2023-2024 and the subsequent changes in ontological security. In this context, the panel will also assess the need for a new ‘grand strategy’ in Ukrainian foreign policymaking in the light of the on-going Russian invasion.
