Tetiana Perga suggests looking at traumatic experience of survival during though the prism of unconventional food sources, challenging cultural taboos and norms the Ukrainian had to rely upon the Holodomor. She examines survival strategies, including the use of food and industrial waste, natural resources, and cannibalism. Using oral history and archival records, she explores the physical and psychological toll of these choices and their impact on memory. The analysis demonstrates the state and individual efforts to (not) forget this experience.
