Abstract

Given the tightening Russo-Chinese entente, especially in its military sphere, we are seeing increasing military probes involving Russian forces either alone or with China making probes from Alaska to the South China Sea. Since there is widespread apprehension about Chinese and Russian objectives in Asia (and elsewhere) we believe that it is necessary to understand precisely what role force plays in Russia's Asian policies
