In this paper, I will examine the influence of Ali Shariati (1933–1977), an Iranian sociologist and one of the ideologues of the Islamic Revolution, on contemporary Russian civilizational discourse. I argue that the main figures of Russian right-wing political thought – Alexander Dugin (b. 1962) and Geidar Dzhemal (1947–2016) – have developed their versions of non-Western protest theology in dialogue with Shariati’s decolonial thinking.
