Abstract

This paper examines the emergence of pedagogical discourse in the late 18th-century Russian Empire. Focusing on a group of intellectuals connected to Moscow University and active in the 1780s, I explore their role as mediators in transferring new educational theories from Germany to Russia and analyze their institutional context. Additionally, I address the broader question of the forms of subjectivity envisioned in European pedagogical thought at the time and reconstruct their social and political implications within the framework of imperial Russia.
