This paper explores how do institutional legacies of communist colonialism affect women’s outcomes and relationship with authoritarian welfare states in Eurasia? Using the archival data, the author studies eight countries that experienced agricultural forced labor, a particular form of labor that required mass female participation in state's interests. The research studies cases of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
