In recent years, Germany has witnessed a complex debate about teaching contemporary history. Concerns about rising anti-Semitism in schools, intellectual disputes about the uniqueness of the Holocaust, and the influence of postcolonial perspectives have challenged the established German culture of remembrance and history education. How relevant is Germany's "never again" paradigm in this context? This paper explores these debates and examines parallels and differences in Central and Eastern European history education.
