The “Crimean Project” refers to the movement of Jewish agricultural colonization in Southern Ukraine during the 1920s–1930s, which for a brief period of time was accompanied by the projects of the Jewish national entity. Even though the project was never implemented, it raised complex questions about nationalism, interethnic and international relations. By analyzing memoirs, travelogues, media publications, and historiographical debates, this study situates the Jewish agricultural settlements within the larger context of imperial and post-imperial legacies, geopolitics, and memory studies.
