Gender and Memory of World War II Latvia

Thu, November 20, 3:00 to 4:45pm EST (3:00 to 4:45pm EST), -

Abstract

This presentation examines the evolution  of gendered narratives of World War II in Latvia since 1991. Using oral histories, memoirs, and scholarly work, this paper considers how accounts of women's experiences  under Soviet and Nazi occupations have both contributed to and challenged  established historical narratives of gender and war in the Baltic states.
