In 2024, the Sisters of St Benedict of Kaunas celebrated the 400th anniversary of their foundation. On this occasion, it was possible to observe how the sisters, in telling their story, selectively choose certain events from the past that they consider to best represent their present. The presentation aims to deconstruct the narrative of the Kaunas Benedictine Sisters about their past, to explore how the Tsarist, Soviet, Nazi and other occupations, wars and fear of repression still affect the self-image of the sisters.
