Arkady Dragomoshchenko’s Photopoetics as a New Visual Language

Sun, November 23, 10:00 to 11:45am EST (10:00 to 11:45am EST), -

Abstract

Over the past 13 years, scholars have explored Arkadii Dragomoshchenko’s use of visual imagery and photography in his work, with Mikhail Yampolsky’s book Iz khaosa (From Chaos) arguing that he undertook “one of the most resolute attempts at symbolist revolution.” Focusing on key poems from his final collection, Tautology, the talk examines how his poetry and photography became deeply interconnected, especially in his later years.
