As a part of a larger study of the Russian book publishing landscape and its role in Russian propaganda and disinformation machinery, this paper focuses on various aspects of fiction writing and publishing. The paper analyzes the way Ukraine (including Crimea) was portrayed across different genres of Russian fiction, both for children and the general public, in the years 2000-2021. The history of translation and publishing of Ukrainian fiction authors in Russia during the same period will also be addressed.
