"This presentation explores how visualizations can transform periodical studies through disclosed reading, a method bridging distant and close reading. While Franco Moretti’s distant reading overlooks individual texts, disclosed reading—rooted in graph theory and Boris Yarkho’s quantitative formalism—identifies significant works within large datasets for deeper analysis.
I will showcase an open-source platform that simplifies metadata analysis through interactive, web-based visualizations. Built with React and Node.js, it generates publication timelines, authorship networks, thematic clustering, and geographical origins from uploaded metadata. Its parsing engine harmonizes disparate schemas, enabling seamless cross-archive analysis.
