This presentation explores arts-based classroom practices designed to support second language learners and scaffold critical-thinking discussions for Intermediate Mid-High students, following ACTFL proficiency standards. Recognizing that students learn in diverse ways and that language learners have varying needs, educators can integrate arts-based methods to enhance learning across content areas in a more creative and individualized manner. These approaches help students express themselves in the target language and connect their learning to authentic life experiences through photography, collective reflection in music and painting workshops, nature exploration field trips, and more.
