Kosovo Sonnets (1917), the first work of Rastko Petrović, opens up a multi-layered mythical image of the Battle of Kosovo. The first layer refers to Kosovo as a historical category; the second discloses the Kosovo myth; the third layer reflects on the current events in the poet's life about which he testifies with strong emotions poured into phenomenological poetic images, which are theorized through Gaston Bachelard’s conception of the poetics of space.
