This study explores the experiences of Russian feminists through text analysis of 55+ interviews with activists ranging from prominent movement leaders to individuals who practiced feminism without clear affiliation. Conducted as part of the "Building Commons in the Russian Diaspora" project, the analysis uncovers how these women reflect on their past activism, express grief over missed opportunities for unity, and take pride in their contributions. Their narratives engage with decolonial perspectives and critically assess Russia’s political and social landscape. Most significantly, these feminists articulate visions for the future of Russian feminism, grappling with challenges of movement-building in exile and within an authoritarian context. By examining the emotional and political dimensions of their testimonies, this research highlights both the fragmentation and resilience of feminist thought in Russia. The findings contribute to broader discussions on feminist activism in repressive regimes and the role of diasporic networks in sustaining resistance.
