Fri, November 21, 8:00 to 9:45am EST (8:00 to 9:45am EST), -

Abstract

From the dawn of filmmaking, Georgian cinematographers recognized the potential of the new art form to preserve and share their national culture. Cinema could capture the beauty of the landscape: the mountains, Black Sea, vineyards; wine, beautiful women, and with the advent of sound, the polyphonic music for which the tiny nation is renowned. Georgian cinema IS all about survival of national identity, surrounded by large nations and empires.
