This paper explores the decentralization of memorialization in Ukraine, examining how regional actors shape commemorative practices beyond national, state-driven narratives. Focusing on local governments, civil society, and grassroots initiatives, it analyzes how regions and localities memorialize the Russo-Ukrainian War. Through case studies from different oblasts, the study highlights the tensions and synergies between national and local approaches to commemoration in a shifting political landscape.
