The Nose, or the Conspiracy of Mavericks (2020), a feature-length animated film by Andrei Khrzhanovsky, is the second in his trilogy of ‘memory films’ following A Room and a Half (2009). This paper examines the film’s polystylistic form as an effort to weave dissonant historical moments into a layered, intertextual narrative, revealing archetypal patterns in history, collective consciousness, and the fraught relationship between individuals and their cultural-political contexts.
