The papers examine the fate of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee (JAC) in the immediate postwar period, and its broader implications for the experience of Jews in the Soviet Union. Within the larger context of the antisemitic campaign of the late Stalinist period, they focus on the activities of the Committee and the actions of the Soviet government, from the Committee's wartime heyday to its elimination and the arrest and prosecution of its members.
