Session Submission Type: Roundtable
The current roundtable will discuss the increasing possibilities of digital humanities for raising awareness of national heritage. The Roundtable will discuss how developing digital geo-localisation projects can contribute to overcome traditional physical boundaries that traditionally hindered physical exploration of national treasures, particularly in cases of areas under conflict. The possibilities offered by digital projects in the Humanities increases exponentially the number of potential viewers who can now access comprehensive databases and maps to understand the historical past. These projects are a form of preserving the memory of what was created in the past, but also, due to their highly interactive character, or creating new understanding and approaches to engage with the historical past.
