Five Years of 19v: A Working Group on 19th-Century Russian Culture

Brief Description

19v, an initiative that aims to bring together scholars of the nineteenth century Russian Empire in different disciplines and from around the world, held its first online meeting in June 2020. It was the first of a series of meetings that have addressed the question of what ‘the nineteenth century’ means to us in the present as it moves further and further into the past. Now, five years after the initiative began, this roundtable brings some of its originators, organizers, and participants together to discuss the outcomes of this effort to bridge disciplinary divides and to bring active attention to this difficult-to-define century.
