Session Submission Type: Roundtable
Central Asian countries, notably Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, currently serve as the most immersive study abroad destinations for those learning Russian. This roundtable will address some of the challenges of program development in Central Asia, especially given a limited market, including how to increase interest in the region and prepare students who do choose this region for study abroad. We will discuss program design abroad and at home, integration of Central Asia content both in Russian language teaching and in topic courses aimed at students in a broad range of disciplines, such as political science, economics, environmental studies, history, and more.
