This panel brings together scholars of Belarusian Studies from a range of disciplines, focusing on the Belarusian language and culture from several perspectives to address the analysis and furthering of Belarusian Studies, especially concerning the Belarusian language. Though Russian remains the primary language heard within the borders of Belarus, the Belarusian language is surrounded by a lively academic community and plays a significant role in several spheres of life both within and outside of Belarus. At such a time in which Belarusian studies is beginning to experience a growth in interest, topics explore data surrounding this increase in Belarusian Studies research and pedagogical methods of furthering study of the Belarusian language, as well as focusing on why such studies are crucial.
