Session Submission Type: Roundtable
This roundtable brings together archivists, scholars, curators, and artists (many of our participants wear a few of these hats at once) who work on military and secret police hi/stories in Eastern Europe and beyond. Participants will share archive-based stories and think together about the scholarly, ethical, and political stakes of this archival work today. The roundtable underscores questions of form and medium that cross writing, archiving, and curatorial work, like "how should we tell these stories, and why?" How do we approach archival images in a field long dominated by textually-based research?
