Session Submission Type: Panel
The panel addresses a range of approaches to the concept of memory in philosophy and literature in classical and modern thought. The presentations will discuss how memory is juxtaposed with the concepts of temporality and eternity, freedom and history, resurrection and filial piety in both religious and secular contexts and introduce “mnemology” as an ontology of memory. Bridging together classical and original Western and Russian traditions, this panel explores the productivity of a dialogue between philosophy and literature, with the hope of offering new perspectives on broadening philosophical concepts in the literary discourse.
