Brief Description
This panel approaches Chinese-Russian encounters at the turn of the 20th century through the lense of labor, commerce, and politics. Panelists look at the community of Russian merchants in Tianjin, Chinese labor in imperial and revolutionary Russia, and debates about tariffs on Chinese goods among Russian farmers-settlers.
