Session Submission Type: Roundtable
This roundtable will bring together scholars of different institutional ranks to discuss pressing issues related to the labor that drives our universities. The discussion will cover recent events in higher education in general and in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies in particular. At issue are problems of contingent academic labor, graduate student challenges, faculty governance, setbacks and successes in union campaigns, and responses to recent executive orders and other governmental initiatives that may affect our research, recruitment, and teaching. In a time of change and uncertainty in higher education, we aim for this roundtable exchange of Left perspectives on labor in higher education to help us find both clarity on the present and viable paths forward.
