Aka, the first Russian who appeared in our family, is one of the Slavic migrants inhabiting Central Asia. Beyond Soviet-Russian hegemony, following the colonization of nomadic lands by Cossack and peasant settlers, his story tells also about those who were and still are “in-between.”
